Bear Destroys Beekeeper's Hives In Wolcott
WOLCOTT — A black bear
ransacked a beekeeper's hives on Spindle Hill Road and the town's Animal
Control department is asking residents to keep an eye out for the
animal.
On Thursday the Animal Control department received a report that the bear had destroyed the hives, according to a posting on the organization's Facebook page. Cameras were set up and the bear, dubbed "Captain Jack," was caught on video a couple days later.
The Animal Control department is asking residents in the area to take precautions and said the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has been notified of the sightings.
